(OCT 2009) MCB NEDERLANDS HAS ENGAGED in a major project together with Transvision for the optimisation and planning of metal distribution. Based on the strong foundation of Transvision Fleet Planner, MCB has ordered a large extension of the load optimisation and terminal handling capabilities of Transvision´s advanced transport optimisation system, Transvision Fleet Planner. At MCB, customer service is the focal point of the business. As one of the largest metal wholesalers in the Benelux, MCB stands out by always striving for the highest quality and customer satisfaction. This customer focus ranges from being able to supply any kind and shape of metal product from a huge stock to tailor-making metal parts and delivering them in one load within 24 hours. The huge success of this approach led to a need for optimising both transportation and material handling at the various terminals operated by MCB. After an extensive search of the market, MCB chose Transvision due to their capability of delivering a strong standard product and at the same time being able to develop the extra functionality which MCB required. With the new version of Transvision Fleet Planner, MCB is now able to optimise the distribution of their goods to their customers. Moreover, Transvision Fleet Planner helps MCB to optimise the traffic within and across their storage and production facilities, based on the material handling capacities of each individual loading bay. By streamlining the loading process of their vehicles, MCB is able to remove a huge bottleneck from their supply chain and thus maintain a high level of customer service while reducing operational costs. MCB will also benefit from Transvision’s proven capability to integrate with complex SAP environments.
