(DEC. 2010) THE FORECASTS MODULE, a module for determining replenishment times for certain customer units (silos, tanks, ATMs, etc.), was recently added to the family of add-on modules to Transvision Fleet Planner.
With Transvision FORECASTS, the expected consumption rate of a given unit can be calculated on the basis of historical data and statistics. This rate is then used for establishing the time of replenishment, taking the actual current or last measured stock level into consideration. When the time of replenishment has been calculated, a transport order is generated automatically in the system.
Clustered units, for instance several tanks at the same petrol station, can also be handled in the module: When the module has calculated the consumption rate of each unit, it estimates which unit will run dry first and when this happens. At the same time, it calculates which amounts should be added to each unit on the date of the first dry-running in order for all of the units to run dry simultaneously next time. In this way, all units can be replenished at once and at the most optimal time, thereby maximising the refilling of the units and saving one or more transports.
Transvision FORECASTS has a user-friendly graphical user interface, which makes it easy to monitor stock levels and low-level alarms, make manual corrections, adjust overall settings, etc. The module’s functionality interacts seamlessly with Transvision Fleet Planner’s planning and optimisation facilities, meaning that replenishment forecasting is now an integrated part of the planning process.
All this makes Transvision FORECASTS a considerable improvement to the already high-quality Transvision Fleet Planner suite and an obvious choice for customers who wish to optimise and increase the control of their stock flow in addition to optimising their transport.
