DelfinVASK is a Danish industrial laundry which was founded in 1952. The company provides laundry and dry cleaning services for private customers.

Based on a test simulation which showed impressive results and a tremendous savings potential, DelfinVASK has invested in Transvision Route Planner with the intention of optimising the master routes for DelfinVASK’s 10 vehicles collecting and delivering laundry. In addition, DelfinVASK will use the system for maintaining the routes by ensuring an optimal insertion of new customers and ad hoc orders into the master plans.

Planning at DelfinVASK is complicated by the fact that the company operates with different frequencies and time windows; customers can choose to have their laundry picked up at a certain time every week or every second, third or fourth week. The laundry is then to be returned on the day following pickup.

DelfinVASK’s customers are primarily elderly people who appreciate the sense of security gained from having the same driver pick up their laundry at the same time each time. This aspect complicates the planning even further, as the visits cannot just be assigned to any given resource.

Taking the customer time windows, visit patterns and frequencies into consideration, the system is able to find the best possible service days for each customer.
